Whirlwind year keeps Georgie Cohen on track for the Beijing Winter Olympics

From the heat of the summer in the Middle East to the depths of winter in Utah, it has been quite a year for Georgie Cohen.

Having become Israel’s first female skeleton slider to compete at the BMW IBSF Bobsleigh & Skeleton World Championships in 2019, the 30-year-old made the decision approaching a year ago to leave her job at the Judge Business School to dedicate her attention to the sport.

Georgina Shoshana Cohen is an international skeleton athlete. Her mission is to become the first ever female skeleton athlete competing for Israel to qualify for the Winter Olympics in Beijing 2022.

A blog posted in The Jewish Chronicle: I learned recently, that my grandad on my dad’s side was selected for India’s water polo team for the Berlin Olympics in 1936. He was not allowed to compete because it was deemed too dangerous for him to enter Hitler’s Germany as a Jew. He contested their decision, but in the end was made to stay in India and watch his teammates compete.
